Liberals Vote Against Bill C-314 That Seeks To Prevent Mental Illness As The Sole Condition For Receiving Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD)

Today, Bill-314 was defeated at the second reading in the House of Commons according to the following voting:

Sponsored by Conservative MP Hon. Ed Fast (Abbotsford), Bill-314 seeks to establish that “a mental disorder is not a grievous and irremediable medical condition for which a person could receive medical assistance in dying [MAiD]. In other words, mental illness should not be the only condition for accessing  MAiD.

The bill passed its first reading on February 10 this year and today the liberals buried it with their “Nays“.
