Canada is the only G7 country without a national school food program — Report says

According to a recent report by CBC News, Canada is the only country in the G7 that does not have a national school food program.

Instead, school food programs are run by community organizations and rely on donations and grants. This funding model is unsustainable and has led to calls for increased government support.

Canada in G7

One in four children in Canada experience food insecurity according to Statistics Canada.

School food programs can help to ensure that all children have access to nutritious meals, regardless of their family’s income.

As high inflation affects food prices, more children need access to these programs.
