Federal Government to Cut $1 Billion from National Defence Budget

The federal government is cutting $1 billion from the Department of National Defence (DND) budget.

This was testified on Thursday by the Chief of the Defence Staff and Deputy Minister of Defence before the House of Commons defence committee.

The Liberal government says the cuts are necessary to balance the budget, but some experts are concerned that they will undermine Canada’s military readiness and commitment to NATO.

Considering the political tension in the world and the fact that we are already in the bad books of NATO for underfunding the military plus all the climate and health emergencies they have been assigned to for assistance I don’t think that cutting the military budget is a good idea at all. I think it should be expanded to include a rapid response force designed to help during the growing list of emergencies we are experiencing
