Champagne believes that Canadians will be able to see the rollout of these actions soon and that there will be a noticeable decrease in food prices.

Champagne, as the National Post reported, also announced the establishment of the office of consumer affairs dedicated to addressing grocery prices, grocery code of conduct, and enhancing data collection on food prices.

Additionally, he revealed that the Competition Bureau would soon be empowered with increased authority to address these concerns through forthcoming amendments to the Competition Act.
