Maya Turner Emerges the First Woman to Score in U Sports Football Game

Maya Turner, a kicker for the University of Manitoba Bisons, made history as the first woman to play and score in a U Sports regular-season football game.

She accomplished this by kicking a 21-yard field goal in the second quarter and another in overtime, helping the Bisons secure a 27-24 win over the University of Regina Rams.

Turner also successfully converted all three of her extra-point attempts, contributing a total of nine points to the game.

Before her U Sports career, Turner played NCAA Division I soccer for Loyola University in Chicago.

Her achievement follows a lineage of trailblazing women in football, including Sarah Fuller and Kristie Elliott.
