Firefighters located the deceased man’s body just past 10 p.m. by raising the collapsed ground floor’s concrete slab, with paramedics confirming his on-site passing.

The conditions of the other two injured men remain undisclosed by the police, while it was reported that five individuals were inside the building during the incident.

The front of the building was previously unoccupied due to a past fire, but recent renovations involving construction materials were evident, leading to a temporary evacuation of ten apartments and two businesses at the rear until a structural engineer ensures the building’s safety, and the circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated by Quebec’s workplace safety board (CNESST) in conjunction with the Montreal police.
